PGN in articles on games
[edit]For some reason someone added the PGN to the article Game of the Century (chess). I don't really see any value in it, and I don't want this to become standard for articles about famous games. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 11:00, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- Since we are already linking to the chessgames.com version in the External Links section, the raw PGN doesn't add any value. Bruce leverett (talk) 18:29, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
Good article reassessment for World Chess Championship 1972

If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. Z1720 (talk) 22:05, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Books/works covering what chess play is like
[edit]Hi! I've been hoping to start working on getting Chess its FA status back, and one of the things I think the article is sorely in need of is elaboration on what chess play is like in practice. Do you guys have any recs for works containing info and stats pertaining to what play is like at different levels, how players at different levels think, what games typically look like, etc? Quotes are appreciated as well. Kaotao (talk) 17:46, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
Chess World Cup 2025
[edit]No hurry but this article definitely has to exist at some point. Maybe do some work on getting reliable sources for Draft:Chess World Cup 2025 and get it past the reviewers? MaxBrowne2 (talk) 09:46, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- Women's Chess World Cup 2025 already exists, but has almost no sourcing and is vulnerable to deletion. Greenman (talk) 10:05, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Women's Candidates 2026
[edit]The qualification paths to the 2026 Women's Candidates were finalised in December, and the 2024–25 Grand Prix series is almost half way through. The World Cup is also soon to be held in July. Normally, at this point in time, Wikipedia would have covered this information on the 2026 Women's WC article, like we have for World Chess Championship 2026. However, it is not fully clear if the match will take place in 2026 or 2027; there is no confirmation on the year from FIDE, and the Women's cycle hasn't been the most consistent in recent years. The closest clue we have is the FIDE website calling it the 2025-26 Cycle, implying that the match will be in 2026. Should I create an article at Women's World Chess Championship 2026 to cover the Candidates qualification paths, or would that qualify as WP:CRYSTALBALL? 9ninety (talk) 17:28, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
