Upcoming summit
[edit]2011 or something? It would be good to explain what happens in recent summits and discussions/topics so forth to learn how this organization changes. Also, anyone opposed to some archiving? Stuff from 2005 on here... Tyciol (talk) 22:59, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Organization's name
[edit]ILGA's report State Sponsored Homophobia: A World Survey of State Laws Prohibiting Same-Sex Activity Between Consenting Adults (PDF), released today, gives the organization's name as the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association with the abbreviation ILGA. Should the page be moved? Exploding Boy (talk) 05:52, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- This appears to be the name they are going by now according to their website... since the old article name is no longer accurate, I'll go ahead and move it if there are no objections. Wikignome0529 (talk) 23:04, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Obviously not the first gay right organisation
[edit]Given that it was founded at a meeting of another one, why say that it was not the first? I'll delete that bit. 16:22, 17 March 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lovingboth (talk • contribs)

Requested move 26 April 2025
[edit]
![]() | It has been proposed in this section that International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association be renamed and moved to ILGA World. A bot will list this discussion on the requested moves current discussions subpage within an hour of this tag being placed. The discussion may be closed 7 days after being opened, if consensus has been reached (see the closing instructions). Please base arguments on article title policy, and keep discussion succinct and civil. Please use {{subst:requested move}} . Do not use {{requested move/dated}} directly. |
International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association → ILGA World – ILGA World is no longer called ‘International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association’ and no longer uses this name themselves.
According to the Swiss Central Business Name Index and the Geneva Commercial Register (Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland) the organisation changed its name to ‘ILGA World’ with effect as of November 2021 and is now registered as such, which means that this is also its official and legally valid name.
Since the old name is no longer valid and no longer used by themselves, I suggest moving to the official self-used and also legally valid name ‘ILGA World’, which already exists as a redirect to this page. -- WikiHelper232 (talk) 14:15, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not clear where you got "no longer used" from; their website declares in very large letters that ILGA World is The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association. 20:52, 26 April 2025 (UTC) –RoxySaunders 🏳️⚧️ (talk • stalk) 20:52, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- This sentence is included in their statutes as a description and is therefore also used on the main page. It is logical that they have not completely dropped their old name (as ILGA used to be just an abbreviation) and is probably still used today as an unofficial name.
- Apart from further sporadic appearances, that's about it. The further appearance is clearly designed for ILGA World.
- But apart from that, as described above, ILGA World has been the official legal name since 2021. Therefore, the old name should not be the lemma for this organisation. -- WikiHelper232 (talk) 21:06, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
